US Jobs Vacancies has posted a new item, 'Mathematics, Assistant Professor'

The Mathematics Department at Ithaca College seeks to hire two tenure-eligible
Assistant Professors of Mathematics beginning AY 2013-14, to support
departmental and college curricular needs.

The Mathematics Department is dedicated to ensuring excellent
educational opportunities to prepare students for the 21st century. Candidates
should demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and the promise of
scholarly activity. Experience and interest in teaching courses in statistics,
quantitative literacy, or interdisciplinary topics is preferred.

The typical teaching load is 18-20 credit hours per year, including
service courses and courses for majors. Teaching and developing courses for the
College's new Integrative Core Curriculum will be encouraged. Candidates are
expected to develop and implement a productive research agenda; support is
available for research collaboration between faculty and undergraduates. Service
both in and outside the department is also expected.

Qualifications: Candidates need to have earned a Ph.D. (or its
equivalent) in mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematics education,
statistics, or a related discipline by August 2013.

Ithaca College continually strives to build an inclusive and welcoming
community of individuals, with diverse talents and skills from a multitude of
backgrounds, who are committed to civility, mutual respect, social justice, and
the free and open exchange of ideas. Successful candidates will demonstrate an
ability to teach in ways that value the varied learning needs and interests of a
culturally diverse student population and that reflect a commitment to
encouraging the success of all students. We also seek candidates who have
relevant experience and/or a record of professional engagement with groups and
communities underrepresented in the academy. Candidates from underrepresented
groups whose exclusion from the academy has been longstanding are strongly
encouraged to apply.

Interested individuals should apply online at apply.icjobs.org and
attach the requested documents. Questions about the online application should be
directed to the Office of Human Resources at (607) 274 8000. Review of complete
applications will begin immediately. To ensure full consideration, complete
applications should be received by November 16, 2012. Interviews will be
conducted at the AMS/MAA joint meetings in San Diego in January 2013.
Ithaca College is committed to building a diverse academic community and
encourages members of underrepresented groups to apply. Experience that
contributes to the diversity of the college is appreciated.
